Health and Wellness Resource Guide

The members of the Healthy Community Partnership-Mahoning Valley have been hard at work responding to the unforeseen challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to our communities. Whether helping distribute meals or ensuring residents know where and how to be safe and physically active, HCP members were quick to respond to support their neighbors.

There is no doubt that the current crisis has underscored the value of making sure people have access to healthy foods and safe, outdoor spaces for physical activity. These are critical components to make sure residents are able to take care of their physical and mental wellbeing, especially during the stressful days and weeks ahead. To assist with these efforts, members of HCP-MV have compiled a Health and Wellness Resource Guide to help residents find information to access healthy food, a nearby park, or other resources that promote safe ways to stay active in mind and body while practicing physical distancing and staying safe at home.

If you have a suggestion for this resource list, please contact Sarah Lowry, Director of the Healthy Community Partnership.

Mental HealthResources, Mental HealthOhio Department of Developmental Disabilities: Social StoriesLinkAnywhereDuring this time of great uncertainty, it is important that families and direct support professionals (DSPs) have tools to ease anxiety and promote a sense of normalcy with their family member or person they support. One tool that families may find helpful in explaining what is going on is the social story, or social narrative. Social stories are visual representations that may help someone understand the state of emergency and better regulate their feelings and responses.
